Community Associations Day, September 26th

The Washington Chapter of the Community Associations Institute (WSCAI) is hosting its annual Community Associations Day, or “CA Day” for short, on Saturday, September 26.

CA Day is WSCAI’s largest annual educational conference and trade show.  It is geared toward both condominiums and homeowners associations.  This year’s event expects over 140 community association related exhibitors, and will feature 12 educational seminars.  You can read more about it here:  https://wscai.org/community-associations-day/

Barker Martin is pleased that three of its attorneys were selected to present at CA Day this year, and have prepared thought provoking, and what we believe will be useful presentations.

Dean Martin and David Silver will be hosting a presentation on the topic of how condominium associations deal with major repair projects with severely underfunded reserves.  This issue is becoming more prevalent as condominium buildings age over time.   Dean and Dave will be joined by Rob Bombino of RDH Building Sciences Inc. and Kris Gjylameti of Mutual Omaha Bank, who will offer valuable information concerning building investigations and repair scope, and obtaining and paying project financing.

Dan Zimberoff will be presenting on the topic of effective committee usage.  Committees can be a great way to encourage greater community involvement, draw upon the expertise of non-director owners, and aid in association transparency. At the same time, committees must be structured to comply with applicable laws.  Ann Hart, an experienced community association manager with the CWD Group, will join Dan in presenting at this interactive session. Bring your questions!

Of course, Barker Martin will be hosting our booth, so make sure to stop by and say hello.  CA Day is a great chance to connect, or reconnect, with business partners and friends we work with but, unfortunately for us, sometimes seldom see in person!
