It's That Time of Year Again…

As the leaves begin to change and the temperature begins to drop, that can only mean one thing… Fantasy Football is back! Ok, perhaps not the answer you were expecting. It is estimated that more than 59 million people will participate in some form of fantasy football this year. Personally, I look forward to taking the money of my friends and coworkers. Our Seattle office will continue to pick every Seahawk (including the beer vendor and Ciara) long before the experts predict. I’d say it is like taking candy from a baby, but as a parent I know that is not an easy task.

In between mock drafts and player analytics, fantasy football got me thinking about the various owners’ associations that we represent. What would happen if they conducted a fantasy draft? Would a community manager with mad budgeting skills and on-call communication be first off the board? Or, maybe a trusted vendor who can provide cost-efficient and timely repairs? Where would an attorney with general counsel experience go in the draft? Would any of our current clients try to trade us for a quality landscaper and two years’ worth of reserve studies? While all of this is *probably* never going to happen, it does suggest a valid point. Associations should surround themselves with a quality team they can trust. Fortunately, boards do not need to fill their roster with a clock ticking. They have time to build relationships, do their research, meet prospective team members, and make well-reasoned decisions. We certainly suggest they do so. Even if an association does not have a current need for an attorney, for instance, it is worth making a connection now so the association is not scrambling when one is needed.

As for me, if anyone is looking for an insurance attorney mid-round sleeper with a lot of upside, feel free to give me a call.
